The publication of USB 3.2 standard - using existing cables, double the speed rate
Industry technology alliance called USB 3.0 Promoter Group announced the standard of USB 3.2 today, USB 3.2 will replace the current USB 3.1. The organization of USB 3.0 Promoter Group includes apple, HP, Intel, Microsoft and other technology companies.
As an incremental update, USB 3.2 supports multi-channel operations of host devices and peripherals, and USB type-c cables also support multi-channel operations. After upgrading to USB 3.2, host devices and peripherals can be used to create multi-channel solutions, allowing two channels of 5Gb/s or 10Gb/s.
Due to supporting two channels of 10Gb/s transmission speed, the speed rate of USB 3.2 will be doubled compared to current USB-C cable.
USB 3.0 Promoter Group said that using USB 3.2 host to connect with USB 3.2 storage devices, which could achieve data transmission speed of 2 Gb/sec. The cable used is USB-C cable, which is certified by USB SuperSpeed 10Gb/s USB 3.1. Additionally, USB 3.2 is compatible with devices of old version.
In addition to the support of dual-channel, USB 3.2 continues to use the data rate of SuperSpeed USB and technology of coding to introduce the concentrator specification into updates and realize seamless conversion between single and double channels when operating.
