A letter from Hisilicon president to his employees: Hisilicon is ready for “spare tires”.

On May 16, 2019, American president and government announced a series of sanctions against Huawei, including an executive order banning American companies from purchasing telecommunications equipment and services provided by "foreign rivals", and listing Huawei in entity list. 

Huawei Hisilicon President, He Tingbo, sent a letter to employees on the morning of May 17, in which he said that Hisilicon had made the ultimate survival hypothesis that even one day all the advanced chips and technologies in the United States would not be available, Huawei have developed many "spare tires" to avoid getting into trouble.

Huawei Hisilicon is formerly known as Huawei Integrated Circuit Design Center, founded in 1991. Dear all colleagues in Hisilicon,
At this point, it is estimated that you have learned that Huawei was listed on the entity list of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
Years ago, when we were in peace, Huawei Hisilicon made the ultimate survival hypothesis that even one day all the advanced chips and technologies in the United States would not be available, Huawei still has abilities to continuously serve its customers. For this hypothesis that would never happen, thousands of Hisilicon builders embarked on the most tragic long march in the history of science and technology, creating a large number of "spare tires" for the company’s survival. Thousands of days and nights ago, when facing with thousands of scientific and technological problems, we went through countless failure and confusion but never gave up. Fortunately, everything comes to him who waits. We succeeded in developing diverse technology and devices..
However, when we gradually stepped out of confusion and see hope, we unavoidably feared that many chips would never be into production, and become spare tires that have been pressed in the secret cabinet.
Today, it is the time for us to apply our intelligence and work arduously for a better future. The superpowers relentlessly interrupt the technological and industrial systems of global cooperation and make the craziest decision to place Huawei on entity list without any basis.
Today, the history allows spare tires we have built to turn to be into production. After years of hard work, we have fulfilled our promise of continuous service to our customers. Our efforts have been linked together to ensure the strategic safety of most of the company's products and to achieve continuous supply of most products! Today is the day when every Hisicilon builder becomes a hero of the times!
Huawei is determined to build an interconnected intelligent world to bring the digital lives to everyone, every family and every organization. We will continue to do so. In the future, in order to realize this ideal, we should not only keep open and innovative, but also realize science and technology independence. In the future, there will be no another decade for us to develop spare tires and then replace them. The buffer has disappeared.
