As 96-layer 3D flash memory capacity increasing: SSD prices will continue to decline
According to news on March 6, SSD prices have a falling trend during recent days, which is different from other electronic products, while there are news about this falling trend even with further dropping. With rising 96-layer 3D flash memory capacity in the second quarter, NAND flash memory market will come into a severe over supply stage, said by some insiders.
According to reports, flash memory prices began falling since 2018, which is mainly because rising supply of 64-layer and 72-layer 3D chip. However, it is predicted that price of per GB flash memory will be lower than $0.1 at the end of year, due to a large supply of NAND flash memory, said by insieders.
Although flash memory manufacturers including Samsung, SK Hynix have announced they will reduce flash memory capacity, over supply of NAND flash memory will maintain due to mass production of 96-layer 3D NAND. Samsung has launched 512GB UFS 3.0 firstly, when flash memory manufacturers such as Toshiba and Micron will make mass production of 96-layer 3D NAND flash memory in the second quarter.
